Gettin' Hip (Prayer Flag)

Materials:
Cotton, lace, tulle, fusible web, batting, x-rays, beads, staples, wood, paint

Techniques:
Fused raw edge appliqué, machine and hand stitched, beaded, painted

My broken hip was repaired with pins and plates, and then the surgery site was stapled together. My creation has my x-rays hung with red and white beads (like blood cells), a lacy fabric (bone actually has a lace-like structure to it), and a purple tulle aura (as I had heard that purple is a healing color), and then used actual staples to finish it off.

Working through pain is not easy.
