Morning Market is my first very detailed fabric collage. I had yet to work out how to manipulate the many bits and pieces, but it was immensely fun to choose fabrics to create the scene.

I made a rough outline of the major areas and then enlarged that to the full size. With that, I could indicate where some structures would be placed.

Reliance on Reference Photos?

I took lots of photos in the floating market and had plenty to work with in Photoshop Elements!

Wilting in the broiling Thai heat, my children were dismayed about the number of photos I was taking at the Damnoen Sadauk floating market. I persisted, knowing there was a quilt in what I was seeing.
