Peace Prize (Prayer Flag)
2005
20″ x 16″
Materials:
Cotton fabric, fusible web, batting
Techniques:
Fused raw edge applique, photo transfer, machine and hand stitched
My critique group created a string of prayer flags for a group exhibit. I made this one and also one about my hip replacement.
I was taken with the idea of lottery tickets offering valuable yet abstract prizes, and wondered if they would be played as obsessively as those with potential immediate gratification.

Knots & Tangles
Creating the hard edges of letters to convey the sense of a printed ticket was a new trick for me to learn. Some of them were done by photo transfer and others by accurately cut and fused fabric.
