The jagged perimeter of my emotions is surrounded by a dense halo of darkness, one created by my son’s unknowable and irreversible decision. I feel it’s permanence, yet I will not allow that emptiness to be an inescapable black hole. The colors of joy persist in my heart, mind and soul, and I call on them to help me push back against the edges of grief.

Photography cannot capture the richness of texture – I wish you could see this in person!
