14 – Pictionary scribbles

April 1, 2020 By

There aren’t many drawings in my journals. Sometimes I’ll do a pictionary-quick sketch to remind myself about what I was thinking; nothing more than stick figures. I do get jealous of some artist’s journals filled with lovely sketches and visual wanderings. I resort to newsprint and pencil for initial drawings.
The blankness of a crisp, new sheet of better drawing paper faces off against the blankness of my mind and nothing good happens, for fear of messing up a good surface with poorly drawn or badly composed drawings. I prefer to start off with a pad of newsprint paper. It is cheap, large sized, and most-importantly, “not precious.” I’m not intimidated by newsprint, marks can appear more freely. I can scribble as freely as any kindergartner.
