Fused raw edge appliqué, painted, machine and hand stitched
I initially made the child for a different quilt, Pastoral Disturbance. The face had been damaged with a lot of stitching but I thought I might be able to re-use the element in a later effort.. Here it is with tiny embroidery stitches to repair the facial features.
I saved elements from another quilt, Pastoral Disturbance, and recycled them here. I had extra tree trunks and tree greenery—they were too good to go unused! The child was also an out take from the other quilt.
