Cotton fabric, fusible web, acrylic and textile paint, batting
Techniques:
Fused raw edge applique, machine and hand stitched, painted details
I did not want a border as I wanted the emotion to be without bounds. I needed to learn how to make a knife-edge finish, along with an irregular shape (the trees on the top.)
Quilting something of this size with a domestic machine is difficult. After this, I began to look more seriously at long-arm sewing machines.
A photo of my son chasing bubbles around the front yard had captured a moment of sheer joy. I wanted that in my quilt.
